1
Prepare a list of main assets and liabilities, with approximate values. (Assets include your home and any other real estate you or your partner own, money in savings accounts, superannuation balances, motor vehicles etc. Liabilities are debts including any mortgages or loans either of you have taken out.)
2
Identify who brought what assets into the relationship at the start, plus any large contributions at later dates from inheritances or similar
3
If you have children, consider how parenting has been handled to date, as well as likely future arrangements.
